Home/About The Spotlight
Since 1974About The Spotlight
The Spotlight is the independent student magazine, publishing campus news, opinion, investigative features, and culture coverage since 1974. We are staffed entirely by undergraduates and funded through advertising, a student activities allocation, and reader donations — not by the university administration, which we cover.
Editorial independence
The Spotlight operates under a student-elected editorial board and is not subject to review or approval by any university office prior to publication. Editorial decisions, including what to cover and how, are made solely by our student staff.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and transparently. If you believe a story contains an error, see our corrections policy or contact us directly.
Support our work
The Spotlight is produced by unpaid student volunteers on a limited budget. Readers who want to support independent campus journalism can subscribe to our newsletter or reach out about advertising via our contact page.
